| 2007 3A State Champion Runner-Ups Ready For 2008 Season |
Coming off the 2007 season which saw the Bengals finish 2nd in the 3A State Finals with a squad that included the individual 3A State Champion (Hunter Watkins), Region III-3A Player of the Year (Shane Rogan) and one All-State golfer (Damon Postal), this year's team should be a state champion contender. After only losing two seniors from last year's squad, the varsity team will feature one 3A All-State golfer, the Region's Player of Year and Medalist from the Region Tournament. At this time, it appears the 2008 Bengal team will consist of 1 senior, 3 sophmores, 2-9th graders, an 8th grader and we anticipate 5 or 6 - 7th graders. This group of highly motivated golfers is looking forward to competing at the championship level this season. The Bengals are fortunate enough to be able to call Columbia Country Club home. Columbia Country Club features a championship course with 27 holes. At 7,200 yards from the tips, the three courses that make up Columbia Country Club (Ridgewood, Tall Pines, and Lakeside) provide challenges for both JV and Varsity golfers alike. The well manicured greens are planted in Tif-Eagle Bermuda grass.
Blythewood High School along with other Richland District II schools, RidgeView and Spring Valley, will once again host the 9th Annual Capitol Classic Invitational Golf Tournament. This tournament will feature about half of the top 50 golfers in the state as ranked by the Heritage Classic Foundation Player Rankings.
